ActiveSync WinCE Information
Back to WinCE info
Note, there isn't a whole lot of content here yet, but I
will work on it sometime
- Partnerships: don't work on Platform Builder 3.0. Wait for
4.0, and don't waste your time trying to make it work.
- Hardware: you need a special cable with most of the 9 serial
wires connected. If you run all 9 through, null-modem style,
it will work. If you don't want to run all 9, or if your
device doesn't support it, you need null modem, ie. cross pins
2+3 and pins 7+8 (on a DB9 connector) and short pins 1+4 on
the computer side. This has the effect of starting an
activesync every time you plug in the cable, which is
moderately annoying, but if you don't have support for DTS et
al on your device, this is the best you can do.
- Software: I had troubles with a minshell build, haven't yet
gotten back to it, but I did get it to work on a maxall
build. You just need to setup a connection in the the remote
networking using a serial connection, it likes 19200 best, but
38400 will also work. If you have hardware handshaking, that
is best also, although I have heard you don't need it.
