I guess I will need to read the book - I have not liked a fair amount of what John Piper has to say (which is unfortunate, since my church loves everything he says). But I happened across Slice of Laodicea and read the following quote today, which is exactly how I have been thinking recently:

I have a couple cds of Keith Green, but hadn't ever actually seen him.  I happened across For Such A Time As This and watched this video of Asleep In The Light:

Who would have guessed that back when I started writing back in November of 2002 that I was starting what would eventually become a blog, and fairly regular posts?  Certainly not me. (More)

Somehow the appliance spies informed our dryer that we were at Sears looking at a new dryer.  Heather wanted to get a new one, since this one doesn't have a low heat setting - but the dryer has worked fine for years. The next time we used our dryer, it refused to start a couple times, and then grudgingly gave in, but made more noise than it used to.  Jonathan and I took it apart on Saturday, cleaned out old gunk, oiled the bearings, put it back together, and it still sounded the same.  It just stopped working tonight.  I think it overheard the Sears salesperson call today to say that the dryer is ready for pickup.  The Calvettis are loaning us their mini-van on Sunday in order to bring it home.

Our church is reading 50 Days of Heaven, by Randy Alcorn.  It is a shortened version of Heaven, specifically written as a devotional book.  It is part of a sermon series entitled, An Eye on Eternity. I thought I would write a couple quotes and thoughts for my care group, in order to encourage them to read.  No promises about 50 days worth, but perhaps as I find interesting things. (More)

Jonathan was rolling out fondant and playing with cookie cutters and talking to himself about them when I heard him say, "cross" correctly!  He also said, "green" correctly so I asked him to say "Grammy" and he did!  They do sound slightly like "caross" or "Gerammy" but they're getting better and better. (More)

I happened across Wynne's blog today, since I was poking around on various CMU alums' web sites. She recently linked to this story about standardized testing. I don't have much that is original to say about this, but figured some of you might like to read the article.

If you are willing to sign up with Google's checkout program, and mail in a rebate, you can get a USB 1GB flash drive for $6 from buy.com. The sale will last until tomorrow. It is their most popular item at the moment -- I wonder why....

Noah's height chart is doing the same straight-line projection that Jonathan's weight chart did.
28" tall, 18lb 11oz.
I never pay much attention to the head circumference number, but that chart was also straight-line. The last two times, the nurse has double-checked that measurement, but Dr.Anderson wasn't concerned because Noah's overall growth is consistent. He's a big boy!
