Verizon Credit Check

I got a notification from a credit bureau today saying that a new account had been opened by: Verizon Pen, PO BOX 165018, COLUMBUS, OH 43216.
Since I haven't changed phone service since last year, it seemed odd that there would be a new account from Verizon. (More)

Dis-Ability Quote

Colin Portnuff, a guy who uses an AAC (alternative augmentative communication) device to communicate, was recently at a conference that some guys from my company (DynaVox) also went to.
He has ALS, which is a degenerative disease of the brain. A number of our customers have ALS; I am not sure about percentages compared to other handicaps.

It is usually inspiring to hear AAC users speak about their lives, and how they have overcome various problems in an enthusiatic way and Colin is certainly not the exception to this rule. To clarify, I say, "usually", because I occasionally I do see our devices being used, or rather not being used, in people lives as well. (More)

Dreams

As Jonathan was waking up this morning, he said, "Look at my brown, Mommy." I asked him if he was dreaming about drawing a picture and he said yes. Then, he was looking all around, moving the pillow, looking under the sheets. "Where is my picture?" It was very hard to understand that it wasn't real, that it was only a dream. He asked about the picture for quite a while, until we got going on other morning activities.

Somehow I missed it when Janet posted her visited states post. I think I have this right, though I don't remember all of these states, so maybe it doesn't count if I just know that I drove through them but can't remember anything about them. 26 Weeks

Had another prenatal appointment yesterday. All is well. She found the heartbeat right away this time, but Jon couldn't find it himself. He is too cautious - but I'd sure rather he be too gentle than too rough! (More)

The Fascinating Ever-Changing Properties of Breastmilk

A woman I know has been having breastfeeding troubles with her three month old. She firmly believes in the superiority of breastmilk and nursing, and so has persisted through the discouragement (implicit and from other people, including pediatrician) and is using a lactation supplementer instead of bottles. She used donated breast milk in it until she ran out and now is using formula in it. As we talked this morning, I volunteered to pump some extra so that her baby can have real breastmilk. (More)
