[Dictation taken by Mommy.  This is a song, but it was hard enough to get all the words written in time, there was no way she could write the notes as well.]

How the Lord is, is a man.
Well, Lord, will lead me in the paths of righteousness.
Lord God, He's the Spirit of lords.
Well, Lord is a Savior, we have come to earth.
The Lord is a King of kings, how great the Lord is good to us.
How God is so, how to the path of righteousness.
For many years we've sing God's praise,
but when we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
and Christ the Lord will not only be the God
but all will have to believe in him.
But you shall be the Lord of lords.

Due to needing to have the well-child visits a year apart and to my previous and current hesitation to use the phone, especially with our doctors' office having this weird new scheduling system, we didn't get to Jonathan's four year checkup until last week. (More)

Jonathan is very often singing or humming now as he works or plays.  He knows the first and last verses of Amazing Grace and parts of the middle verses.  He likes the "What's in the Honeypot" song from his piano lesson CD, as well as the version of "This Old Man" from the same.  He also frequently makes up his own songs, with words from all different sources including his own brain.

He continues to be excited about the baby.  He likes to try to hear him, and he will speak loudly to my belly, "Hey, baby!  I'm your big brother!  Hey, baby!  Can you hear me?  Wake up!"  He also likes to sing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" to the baby. He thinks he felt a movement once.

We've been reading about the ocean and sea creatures and now he wants to be a deep sea diver when he grows up.

He plays sea diver, Mary and Joseph, mommy and baby animal, and any number of other creative games.  He discovered how to pull the curtains in front of the couch to make a tent/cave and he likes to make other kinds of structures with blankets and couch cushions.

We had Easter dinner at the Venables with four families (total.)  It was a fun time and we got home after it was fully dark.  As I was getting Noah out of the car I noticed that the sky was perfectly clear and the stars were shining as much as you can expect in a city.  I saw Orion and the Big Dipper and the North Star.   I told Jon and Jonathan they should go look for a few minutes, so they sat on the hood of the car for quite a while.  It was fun to watch them out there and it will be fun to hear the report of their conversation.  (More)

2/9 - Jonathan: "What does special mean?" I say something about someone/thing that someone cares for. "How much do you care for me?" Well, I don't think I can really measure that. "Well, you may care for me abundantly.(More)

Noah likes to help set the table.  When I ask him to put forks at the places, he will run to the drawer and grab a fistfull, then put a fork on top of each plate.  I usually have to help him put away the extras, or they end up all over the place.

Growl.  Arg, we're going to eat you up!

Dogs, Aloo-ki!  We're going to eat you up.

Growl. Growl.  Stomp. There's dogs [being] eating [eaten] up.

The bears have eaten one dog. (More)

Last night Jonathan was helping me set the table for dinner.  He said we should get five plates, but I said no, Noah has his tray so he doesn't need a plate.  But he could get five bowls for the chili, and five spoons.  Then I said, "Make two of them big spoons." "Why?"  "Because Daddy and Miss Sanda like big spoons for chili."  "So, then I should get three small spoons."  That was quick subtraction in his head without any prompting from me! (More)

Can I condense three weeks of activities into one post?  We'll see how it turns out.  One thing we discovered at Christmastime is that Noah loves cocktail sauce.  He just dipped his finger in and licked it off, licked the bowl clean and wanted more!

I felt like going for a walk today, so Jonathan and I headed out, and I let Jonathan decide where we would go at each turn.  We talked some about compass directions, and where the sun was, and sometimes he had an idea which way home was (and then would immediately turn so as to avoid going home).  He seemed to think that if we were on a road that was in the direction of home, that would mean we would have to go home right then.

Most of the detailed turns on the map are intentional trying to remember how we crossed the streets.  We stopped by the Shursave to get some food for tonight, and Jonathan also needed a bathroom stop despite saying that he didn't need to go when we left the house.

11/28 - Sanda has been teaching us Romanian, and one day Jonathan was asking what various random words were.  We thought he said, "walk" and Sanda hesitated because it's a verb, so when she asked him to clarify (I walk, you walk, she walks?) he said, "No! Not 'walk' with a w, 'lock' with an l."

This month has been full, busy, and blog-sparse.  Because we're actually living life instead of blogging about it!  But here goes:

Noah is experimenting more with sounds.  He copies a lot.  Still not much consistently, but here are some things we've heard him say: "where?" "Papa" "more" "Dad" "no" "none" "that" "hot" "hat."  He also often covers his mouth when he sneezes or coughs.

Jonathan loves to create meals and side dishes.  On 10/2, he made a vegetable salad that we have recreated several times.  Carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, onions, with one lemon's worth of juice as a dressing.  Simple and delicious.

10/12 - I was in the basement doing laundry when the phone rang.  It was Sanda.  She was trying to take a shower and all the water disappeared! It just struck me funny to get a phone call from upstairs.
