Vacation was fun, see the pictures: Connecticut, New Hampshire.

7/26 - A little boy, older than Noah and younger than Jonathan, asked Noah his name.  When Noah did not say anything, the boy kept repeating, "What's your name?"  Eventually, Noah walked over to the table and got his water cup, brought it over to the boy, and pointed to his name printed on the cup.

That same evening (we were at the church picnic) all the kids got glow bracelets.  Just as we were leaving, Jonathan bit his and splashed the contents into his eye.  Someone scooped him up and rushed him to the sink, and Jon helped him rinse it for about 20 minutes.  Thankfully, the package said only to rinse and nothing about going to the ER.  His eye is fine.

35 weeks:  Today we had a midwife appointment.  Even Noah got to hear the heartbeat this time.  Everything is well.

Packing is coming along thanks to several helpers.  We're very busy and it's pretty hot, but we're getting there by the grace of God.  Closing is tomorrow.  More helpers lined up for the rest of the week.  If you want to be one of them, let us know!

I guess it can't much be counted as "again", since we have only moved once since we have been married, but the song popped into my head as I started to write the title of this post.

Since some of you probably don't read every comment on our blog, you might have missed the announcement that we actually have a new house!

We have boxes stacking up around our house, and we are planning on moving on Saturday, August 9th and would appreciate any help anyone wishes to give us in carrying boxes and furniture on and/or off the truck. Of course, we'll have food, etc. available.

Additionally, if anyone is interested in learning about electricity or plumbing (supply side) I
am willing to oversee a couple projects before moving day. The current plan is to re-route the main internal supply line on this Thursday, July 31st, and on Friday, ground some outlets, and run new electrical lines where needed and some minor painting in the following days. There is also some wood work - replacing some rotting wood, and fixing up some braces on the deck. Let me know if you are interested in any of that, whether or not you have any expertise.

We went to our 32 week appointment today and the office was much busier than when we've come before. The baby moved vigorously during the exam and the midwife had a hard time hearing his heartbeat. The first time, he obviously moved away from where she had the fetoscope; on the next try, I pushed a bit on the other side with my hand so he couldn't move away from it. The heartbeat was correspondingly fast for all his excercise. There was a student there for the appointment (yes they asked me if it was ok) and he was amazed at the movement and feeling the little foot/knee/something.

Everyone is healthy and baby's still head down. Thank you for your prayers and keep them up!

And now for a little fun: All those rooting for a girl can hang on to the old wives' tale about fetal heartrates. This baby's heartrate has been consistently higher than all of the boys'. However, those wishing for a boy can count on the tale about carrying; I am carrying exactly the same way that I have before - low and out in front.

When Jonathan saw the ultrasound pictures of Bonnie's baby, he said he wanted to find out what ours is, too! I told him he'll find out in 8 weeks or so, but he still has a hard time knowing how long that is.

I think I have written before about DenyHosts, but this evening, it prevented somewhere around twenty thousand individual hosts trying to login to one of my servers. The hackers have gotten smarter - that they used to just try from one host, which was trivially blockable, even manually. But, thanks to denyhosts (and the fairly easily trackable behavior by the hackers), they think they get a couple chances to guess a password before being blocked. Note, that I say "think", because they actually don't get any, due to the way they are doing it. (More)

I had delayed posting this since I think people were getting tired of hearing about each house that we put an offer on.  But, now that this offer has been accepted, and I don't expect too much trouble with the inspections, I figure it is safe enough to post. (More)

After breakfast on Noah's birthday, we went to the dollar store to buy him some balloons.  Jonathan thought Noah shouldn't come, because it would spoil the surprise, but I said that since Noah likes to go on walks, he'd have a happier birthday if he came with us.  And what's another 10 minutes to wait for a surprise?  While we were there, both boys were intrigued by the gumball machine, so I consented, for the birthday's sake.  Noah didn't understand that it was gum and was ready to throw his ball across the room.  Then, when we told him it was for chewing, he sucked all the candy part off and then slowly nibbled off a bit at a time and swallowed it.  Right.  Too young for gum.  Oh, well! (More)

Today, Noah is two years old! He is a blessing to our family, and I look forward to watching and helping him grow more and more. Since the second birthday is not much more interesting to the recipient than the first, we'll be having a simple family celebration with balloons and cake. I'm also going to prepare one of his favorite meals, Split-Pea Dahl with Jeera Rice and Naan. What will he say when he finishes his first bowl? "Mo' dah' please!" (Ok., that's being a bit generous. He'll probably start out with just the "dah'" part and then we'll encourage him to say/sign the more and please.)

On 6/20, Noah walked up the stairs without holding onto the wall or railing.  His hands were full with a water bottle, and he just carefully stepped his way up. (More)

On Wednesday, we walked to the Shursave for a regular shopping trip. The only difference in this trip was the lack of milk in the bottom of the cart, since I had just gotten some at Trader Joe's. But it made a big difference for Jonathan! He pulled the cart the whole way home by himself, except for the street crossings where I just kept a hand on it for safety. Noah was ambling along at his inquisitive pace, and once we crossed the last street, Jonathan steadily made his way towards home. (More)

Everything is progressing nicely.  We were late yet again (Jon thought the appointment was 20 minutes later than it was, and I lost track of time.)  Even with rushing, my blood pressure was the same as it has been this pregnancy.  The most fun part was when it was time to hear the heartbeat.  She got a good strong one and then when it was my turn to listen, the baby got hiccups!  So Jonathan got to hear the hiccups, too, which was pretty fun.  Hiccups are louder than heartbeats, and slower, and you can see them as well.  At the end of the visit, the midwife thanked me for taking such good care of myself.  I can also thank my family for taking such good care of me!  (see next post about Jonathan.)

We went through Jonathan's piles of saved papers and threw out a bunch. We took pictures of some things and they are in the pictures page under jonathan/2008/scrapbook. Some are labelled "bulk save see file for details" or some such thing. Here are the details. (More)

28 weeks, 2 days

The baby gets hiccups now. Jonathan likes to feel them.

Jonathan enjoys blocking a doorway and demanding, "Three thousand dollars!" or some such amount. Sometimes he'll block every doorway from the laundry to the bedroom, charging an exorbitant amount of money every time. If there are any complaints, he always says, "Don't worry, it's just pretend money."

So now Noah, always happy to copy his big brother, has started in on the game. I come up from downstairs, and there he is at the top of the stairs with the door closed, his little hand sticking through the crack, saying, "Dah!" (dollar!) So now Mommy has to pay $3001 every time she goes anywhere. (:

I forgot to write this down before; Jonathan can now spell "Jonathan Daley" all by himself. He used to get stuck after "Jon."

He read a book of jokes the other day, and he thought they were hilarious. But he doesn't quite get the concept of "crossing" two things. Jonathan's version: "What do you get when you cross the street with a duck and a cow? Milk and quackers!" (More)
