I have accumulated some random stuff about Jonathan for quite a while.  Here thay are finally written down.

 

After being stuck on 11 for quite some time, Jonathan now can count to 29, only skipping a few.  This is what he said when describing how many people he wanted to come to his birthday party: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 26, 22!"

 

He also likes spelling, but most things are spelled "D-O-M-A-Y-A-Z."

 

For reasons too long to write here, Jonathan knows the first line to "Up on the Housetop" and he has given me insight into wordplay.  When I was a child, I always thought it was "reindeer paws."  I think sometimes Jonathan thinks like that also, because he'll say "up on the housetop, reindeer claws, reindeer claws, reindeer claws, out comes good ol' Santa Paws. Does Santa have paws?"  Then the other day he said this instead, "Up on the housetop, reindeer pause the music!"

 

For quite a while, he's been commenting on multi-syllable words.  "Why do you say 'deer' when you say 'rein'?  Why do you say 'salt' when you say 'summer'?  Why do you say 'er' when you say 'toast'?"

 

When we were at my aunt's house for Thanksgiving, my mom gave me a hug and asked Jonathan, "Do you know who this is?  This is my litle girl."  Jonathan replied, "No, she's not, she's Daddy's girl!"

 

I'm making a flannelboard advent calendar, cutting the characters out of felt.  After I made the wise men and answered Jonathan's questions about them, he asked me, "Are you going to make a foolish man?"  (I told him I guess that must be Herod...)
