Normally, when we have an update to a post, we just put it in the comments, but since I've entered us in the 30-Day Challenge, here's a separate post to link up.
Now before any other "challengees" faint when they see my pictures, I'll remind you that we have guests coming tonight, so our deadline for a presentable room was much earlier than the end of the month. Also, there is internal organization still left to be done.
My goal for the beginning of the week was to get everything off the floor and ready for Jon to do his purging. In the process, I discovered that my "last and least" shelf was not last in the least! (sorry) Some computer stuff that had been on the toy shelf now fits up there nicely.
While I was at Bible study on Tuesday morning, Jon did his part:
The give away pile (with a box of trash in the left foreground.)
It took many trips down and up two flights of stairs, but I was so happy to be sending it away that I was envigorated by the work. Jonathan took one whole box down by himself, in individual pieces. He was thrilled to help.
Right side of the closet - for Jon's remaining useful things. He still has a bit of going through to do, but at least it all fits in the closet now.
Left side of the closet - for the boys' toys.
Voila! The futon and the floor are clear. Without the toy shelf, the room feels much bigger.
But we had even better plans for this room. Because we have a "permanent" guest upstairs who is not using the queen bed, we did a switch. The futon is now upstairs, the queen bed in our new, beautiful guest room.
The rest of the work from here on out will not have the same visually pleasing results, but I am looking forward to getting my files in better order. (Also, I'll have to admit a bit of cheating in the purge department: there is some stuff in our bedroom now that I haven't figured out what to do with yet. But it needed to get out of the computer room.)

Aren't guests the best for motivation? We love when we have people coming over, gives us an excuse to get out of our own way. :)
congrats on your purge/clean up! isn't it a wonderful feeling?!
looks great, good job on getting so much done on the challenge
Meditating upon that which is 'of good report.' Waiting for when we've fully moved in and organized . . .
