Someone off-handedly mentioned on the midwives list that so-called "crack babies" are really mis-named. While crack is certainly not the thing to do, medical research says that it isn't any worse than alcohol or tobacco. There are a number of articles, like this one that can be found from... (More)

Dr.Anderson called and said that Jonathan's lead came back 9.2. That's below their threshold of 10, but still some, so he said to be careful, make sure we wash his toys and keep the rugs vacuumed and watch out where he plays. Jon isn't really satisfied with that and said he'd call him to see... (More)

The Graduate Christian Fellowship at Carnegie-Mellon University has a group that meets weekly for discussion of various articles. I rarely make it to the discussion, but this week's topic was David Brooks's articles on Patio Man and the "Sprawl People" . I was asked for a summary of... (More)

Hi all. I figured I would put a post here, so it will show up in a search engine if anyone happens to remember that our ten year reunion is coming up soon. We are trying to contact people, and at least with my list of people (Cheryl Clough, Bill Earnshaw, Jimmy Card, Brandi Dubuque, and Sam... (More)

Yesterday, while Jonathan was napping, I went downstairs to do some things. I didn't turn the monitor on, because I was only going to be gone "for a minute." Well, it ended up being a half hour, but I wasn't too concerned because his naps are usually at least 45 minutes, and I couldn't hear him... (More)

The bike ride was tough, and my knees hurt a lot, but I made it the whole way. I decided not to do the "century" ride, 100 miles in the first day, but just did 82 miles the first day, and 68 miles the second day. I had friends that biked also, but mostly, some biked faster, and some biked... (More)

Someday I will get this more organized, but I wanted to at least have one post in the programming category, so I will link to my "old" code page. (More)

I haven't posted this here, and since occasionally some people actually read this, I might as well post it. I am going on a 150 mile bike ride on June 12-13 to raise money for multiple sclerosis. I am supposed to raise at least $200, so if you have a couple bucks to spare, please send some my... (More)

Well, I guess I spoke too soon last week. Search and arrest warrants were filed today for Judy. Apparently, they took her files and computers and stuff, and expect her to turn herself in tomorrow. Her lawyer has asked for a $10,000 deposit (I forget what the lawyer word for that is), so I... (More)

We went to the CORE ceremony today. The ceremony was for donors and recipients of organ donations from 2002. Isaac's heart valves were collected and frozen for future use. They have not yet been transplanted into anyone yet, but I guess they can be stored for a couple years and they will still... (More)

We have been doing pretty good, after the inquest day was over, things got a lot better, and I think we could relax some, and not be so stressed -- although, even as I write this, I realize my shoulders are tense. Somewhat unrelated side-note (related just because it is about babies!) John and... (More)
