Jonathan's favorite bits recently are Fluorine, Estonia, Great Gray Owl.
I'm pretty sure he does know the Estonian flag, but he has now started
this game where he goes through them and calls them all "Estonia." I
think he just likes to say the word! But yesterday, he was doing that,
then he got to the real Estonia and hesitated, like he knew he was being
silly so maybe he shouldn't call that one Estonia because it would be
right. So I think then he just said, "stone."
I also showed him a bunch of subtraction equations - we haven't seen those
in ages. He was asking for new bits, but I told him we had already seen
new bits today and I wouldn't bring more new ones out until tomorrow. So
the math dots started to seem new again. I did the equations I had made
before, and then just had to make up several more because he kept wanting
them. (:
He also asked what a kiwi was, so the next time we went to the store, I
bought three. (Ha! glad he didn't ask about the horned melon - I have no
idea where to get one of those...) We ate all three right away when we got
home because he liked them so much! I peeled them, and then he cut them
up.

"Estonia" that I'm talking about here is the national flag for the country of Estonia.
Fluorine is from the chemical element symbols. (In the future, I think I'll show them before the baby can ask about them. It's really hard to explain what an element is when all you have is the symbol from the periodic table. Alissa had an easier time telling Will about it because he's already been learning about atoms and things like that.)
"Kiwi" is in the set of fruits and vegetables. He also likes to say, "Curly Endive."
