Jon made Jonathan a lightswitch stick so that he (Jonathan) can turn on and off the lights himself. It is a dowel with a loop of wire fastened to the end.
When Grammy and Auntie E were here, Jonathan demonstrated the first observed completion of the USA puzzle all by himself. Before, I had suspected that he could do it, but never saw an actual demonstration myself.

When he and Grammy were on their adventure, Jonathan learned two new words - "shamrock" and "leprechaun." One day in the store with me, he looked at a display and said, "Look! Shamrocks for Patrick!"

On Friday, Jonathan was spinning around in the dining room, singing at the top of his lungs, "Blessed be the name of the Lord!"

He can also sing the Wise and Foolish Builders song. He knows some of the motions (rain and flood) and all the phrases, but sometimes he skips some and sometimes he repeats some more than the song does. But it is very fun, and he sings it on the phone to Grammy, who is the one who taught it to him first.

Yes, that's the one! 47 pieces (except we lost Maine, but he still knows where it goes...)

we love the wise and foolish builders song as well! i only remember two whole verses and one about "building your house on the lord jesus christ" but i don't know any hand motions to that verse! :)

Liz, that must be a different song about the wise and foolish builders. This one goes "The wise man built his house upon the rock (x3) and the rains came tumbling down. The rains came down and the floods came up (x3) and the house on the rock stood firm. The foolish man built his house upon the sand (x3) (chorus) and the house on the sand went SMASH!" Now that I write that, I see the possiblity that it is still the same song only you know another verse that doesn't have motions...

you're right - it's the same song and i think the last verse i was talking about probably doesn't have motions. rowan especially likes the "smash" (or "splat" in our case) motion.

I recorded a small video (until the batteries died) and can post a link when we (ie. Heather) copy it to our web page. Jonathan was excited about singing it as we went to bed the other day, and then called Grammy the next day to sing it to her.

He managed to do a good job on the phone, where I dialed it, but then he took it, and pushed "talk", and then answered when Grammy picked up the phone, which he doesn't always do. Though, he skipped the formalities of saying, "hello", and just launched into song.
