Jonathan has created a new superhero. Actually, a team of superheroes. They are the SuperFire team, made up of as many different colors as you would like. Super Orange Fire is the captain (that's usually Jonathan.) Noah is often Super Blue Fire, or Super Green Fire. I'm sure I'm forgetting details, but some of the features are that they can turn into fire and they can shoot worlds from their arms. They have capes that can separate into wings. The theme song includes phrases from the Ride of the Valkyries.
I was reading some article about nurseries in hospitals, I can't remember the details, but the part I wrote down was Noah's question after I told him about the babies in the hospital. "Why babies broken?" That is, why are they broken so that they need to be in the hospital?
9/22 - Faith use the please sign spontaneously. Now she uses it often, though sometimes needs to be prompted.
9/22 - Jonathan, talking to Noah, "This game will be kind of hard for you because you don't know your numbers yet." Noah replies, "You know my numbers."
9/22 - Faith walks from the middle of the living room to the couch with a Rubik's cube in each hand.
9/23 - Faith walked to Noah ten steps with no falling/diving.
9/23 - Faith started nodding and shaking her head for the appropriate "yes" or "no".
9/24 - Jonathan changed the upstairs light bulb with only help from Noah. This was rather an involved process because of the shade that was on it, so I was proud of him.
9/27 - Faith walked across the firehall 32 steps.
10/1 - Faith crawled downstairs.
10/1 - We got a Birds of Pennsylvania field guide and CD with the bird calls. It's pretty neat. Early in the CD is info on Starlings, which said they like to cluster on telphone wires. Jonathan said he'd never seen them on the wires, and proceeded to look in the book for the birds he had seen on the wires. Pretty soon, he exclaimed, "I found them! House Sparrow." He was correct!
10/6 - I was getting dressed in the morning, and had laid out all my clothes on the bed. Noah was remarking on each article, "You have black pants, write shirt, white mommy milk thing..."
10/7 - Faith started choosing walking over crawling for transportation.
10/7 - Faith's first two molars are in. Bottom right, and upper right.
10/9 - Jon made chicken noodle soup for his sick wife and it ended up having lots of noodles in it. Jonathan said that was a good thing: "The noodlery the better."
10/9 - Jonathan played Mastermind and Bohnanza with Daddy (and me when I was feeling well enough.) He does a good job.
10/10 - All the kids were playing on the bed, the boys jumping up and yelling, "Tada!" And then Faith would stand up, raise her hands, and yell, "Da!" It was so fun to see them all playing the same game together.
10/12 - Faith can now drink from a regular cup, and what I mean by this is that I can pour a small amount of drink in a cup and set it on her tray and it will get into her stomach and not anywhere else.
We missed our annual trip to Canada for Canadian Thanksgiving, which was disappointing. But I am still recovering from whatever it was (not swine flu, I don't think) so it really would not have been a good idea to go. We're going to see if a trip up there at the beginning of next year might work out.
We now have two cords of wood in our yard, and Jon is at this moment driving home with a wood stove fireplace insert. This took a lot of research and thinking, so I'm glad the decision is now made. Now to get volunteers to help him unload it from the van! I figure he'll post about it later, since he did most of the research (and he'll do most of the installation as well.)
All right, this post took me two sessions to write and now Faith is waking up.

Wonderful update! Did Jonathan read "house sparrow"?
Can't wait to see you all in person!
It was fun reading about everyone. We miss you!
It was fun reading about everyone. We miss you!
He did. It sounded a bit like hoos spahr-ow.
Kelly - we miss you, too! I was glad to get your email update. Jonathan says he only plays by himself in the babysitting now. I said what's the point of going if you don't play with anyone, and he replied, "I used to play with Hannah..."
Thanks for sharing your notes, Heather! Your children's antics amuse me.
Laedelas - did you hear from your brother that I was out your way? (I picked up the stove mentioned in this post from Columbus, and I drove past Akron). I was hoping that you lived in Columbus, and then Noah and I could take you out to dinner, but we ended up eating before we got to Akron.
Some other time...
He texted me about it, and it would have been great to see you again, but I was at work. Let me know if you ever head West again!
