Daley Ponderings
Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things.
Thanks for the reminder. I was exhausted going into Joseph's birth, and that was very dumb. I'm making myself slow down this time around, but as the author says, it's very hard. It's hard to say "No, I can't commit to that, I need to, um, do nothing that close to the birth." Giving birth ain't nothing. It's impossible to describe how much energy - both physical and emotional - that's necessary to give so completely of yourself to a new being. I like her link to a list of things people can do to help when a new baby comes. Lots of people asked if they could help before Joseph but I didn't know what to ask for and afterward it was all I could do to get through the day, much less ask for help. Thanks again for the reminder that a women needs all the encouragement she can get around childbirth, both physically and emotionally - hence the food and the flowers suggested by this midwife!
