On Saturday morning, April 1st, I saw the mother robin checking out the nest over our door. I put up a blanket over the window (since I never got to finding a one-way glass) so our comings and goings would not disturb the nesting. There are no eggs yet, and I have not seen her again. I sincerely hope that my seeing her that morning did not dissuade her from picking that spot for her nest this year.

I just looked up the dates for our last two years of robins and I can rest easy for a while. There weren't eggs until the end of April, beginning of May. So I can be reasonably confident that with the blanket over the window, the robins will consider it a safe place to raise a family.

There has been nest-building activity. As far as I can tell, last year they just touched up the existing nest. This year, they are definitely building a new nest on top, so it is very high, and will be hard to see the eggs. No eggs as of yesterday, April 13.
