Noah was having a hard time this early morning and he reached for my fingers to chew on them. Then I felt it! Tooth ridges on the bottom right!

He's been drooling and chewing a lot, but I really didn't think anything of it, because Jonathan chomped on stuff for a couple months before the first tooth came through. I just looked it up (on hard copy, no search function!) and he got his first tooth just shy of 6 months. Noah is just shy of four. Crazy.

Maybe it does explain some unexplained fussiness. Erupting teeth never bothered Jonathan, but I think Noah is more sensitive. Hopefully just cold teethers will be comforting enough. But now that I know, I can offer them!

Look it up in your records, but I'm pretty sure your first tooth came at about four months. I remember the advice that the first tooth was a sign one could start solid foods, and saying, "no way!"

Tommy didn't get his first tooth until 6 months, but Billy got his first at 3 months and they seemed to keep coming a tooth a month after that for awhile. I remember being surprised by Billy's first tooth because I thought the timing had to do with heredity. I assumed Tommy was similar to us in timing, though I never looked it up, and thought Billy would follow that same pattern. When it came to losing baby teeth, Tommy was later than many of his friends and Billy was earlier. I don't think Tommy lost his first tooth until he was 6, but Billy lost his at either 4 or just after he turned 5.

I have read that the earlier they come in, the earlier they come out.
