March 20 - Jonathan climbed over our chain link fence all by himself.
March 22 - He was pretending that his cereal was "vitamins" and counting them out to himself, "It's Saturday [eat one]...it's Monday [eat one]...it's Wednesday [eat one]...it's tomorrow...."
March 23 - He wrote "JON" completely on his own.
March 30 - "How does the sky stay up there?"
April 10 - "On your market, set, go!"
Unknown date - Jonathan swept the kitchen floor neatly and independently (except I held the dustpan.)
He has been asking for a long time if I would get down the 1000 piece puzzle that's in our closet. I keep saying no because he's not ready for that kind yet. But one day, he convinced Jon to get it down. So we've been having a fun time. At first Jonathan's helping was a little frustrating, but then his interest waned a bit and the adults enjoyed it. I've read that full-time mothers should have some sort of intellectual stimulation to keep their minds active, and I have to say, doing puzzles is a great way to do that.
Near the end, Jonathan could actually help more, because there were fewer loose pieces to knock around. (That was the most frustrating part of his prior efforts.) A neat consequence of his helping with this puzzle is his greatly increased ability with his own puzzles. Previously, he was a whiz at the kind that had shapes (like states) but had more trouble with jigsaw shapes. Now his 20-50 piece jigsaws go together easily.
Ah, I almost forgot another thing I wanted to put on the blog. Last summer, we got Jonathan some Cars sandals, and for some reason he christened the star red racecar as "Head Car The Go Light." We finally saw the movie after he got it for Christmas. Now he knows that the "real" name is Lightning McQueen, but he still likes to call him Head Car The Go Light. I like that!
