I forgot to write this down before; Jonathan can now spell "Jonathan Daley" all by himself. He used to get stuck after "Jon."

He read a book of jokes the other day, and he thought they were hilarious. But he doesn't quite get the concept of "crossing" two things. Jonathan's version: "What do you get when you cross the street with a duck and a cow? Milk and quackers!"

We were having a very serious conversation about abortion (Jonathan brought it up) and I guess after a while the subject became too much to handle because at some point, he abruptly asked me, "Why do bears like honey?"

Another time, we were talking about when the baby will be born, and the progression of birthing the head, body, and placenta. Jonathan said, "Yeah! The placenta is the coolest!" There was a slight pause in which Mommy was thinking, yeah, well, the baby is the part I care about. Then, without any comment on my part, Jonathan continued, "The baby is the sweetest, but the coolest is the placenta."

Placenta: I can't tell if that's the Y chromosome speaking or the engineer. :)

I'm assuming that by "he read a book of jokes the other day" you mean it was read to him, not that you're announcing that his reading ability has suddenly taken off. With Jonathan you never know....

Correct. Miss Cathie read it to him the other week when the boys came with me to women's Bible study.

But he's getting faster with reading, some short words come out perfectly the first time. He loves reading the Nutrition Facts on the cereal boxes in the morning. He can read "High in Fiber" all by himself now...

He also knows the whole "Who Is Coming To Our House?" by heart and read it to Noah entirely the other day.
