Jon took us on a small family vacation this weekend to a
bed and breakfast on a farm.It was fun, despite cold precipitation and wind for most of the weekend. After breakfast is farm chore time - pumping water, feeding goats, sheep, guinea hens, chickens, and gathering eggs. Farmer Dale tells us about the farm and answers questions. Saturday morning was cold and rainy and Jonathan was not interested in participating. Sunday morning was gorgeous - cold, but sunny, and Jonathan had a blast with everything and even asked Farmer Dale to get more cracked corn so he could feed the goats some more. Sunday's breakfast included some of the eggs gathered Saturday morning. (:
Saturday we went to the Trolley Museum in Washington, PA and ate dinner at a restaurant in town. Sunday we went to church at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, where Mark and Karen Stevenson are deacon and rector, respectively.
To end this brief account, I'll write a conversation we had in our room one evening:
Mommy (reading from Genesis): "And God made two great lights;"
Noah: [squeak squeak]
Mommy: Please be quiet while I'm reading, Noah. "And God made two great lights;"
Noah: [squeak squeak]
[Mommy takes care of Noah]
Jonathan: And God made two great lights.
Daddy: Do you know what those lights are?
Jonathan: I don't know.
Daddy: What is a big light in the daytime?
Jonathan: The sun!
Daddy: Yes! What is a big light in the nighttime?
Jonathan: A streetlight!
After a little more prompting and guesses, he did answer "the moon" correctly, but it shows that he is a city kid.
