Jonathan love to say "hot" and he often says hot when he means cold - ie snow, ice cubes.
This morning while we were looking out the window, he said, "hot" again for the snow and the cold window. I showed him the sign for cold and repeated the sign for hot and explained to him that they were opposites and gave examples of which things are hot and which are cold.

He copied the cold sign and used it several times. Then he pointed to steam/smoke rising from a chimney and said and signed "hot"!

I always admire the way you interact with him!

This makes me think about the process of learning what a word means. When you think about it, there's a lot that is similar in the way hot and cold feel. Language is helping him distinguish the two.
