Recently, Jonathan has liked to sit in his little chair with his guitar, strumming and singing, "I love Mommy. She is beautiful. I love Mommy." Now there's a sweet Valentine!
On Thursday I was uploading the pictures from the camera, which turned out to be a big job because there were still Christmas pictures on there. Jonathan was getting hungry, so I told him he could go get himself a snack. So he went downstairs, got his kitchen stool, brought it to the pantry and took down some fruit leathers. He even tried to open them but had to call me to do it.

After that, when I went back up to finish the pictures, he decided that the camera batteries had charged enough (that was his only mistake) - unplugged the charger, took the batteries out and put them in the plastic case, took the other set of batteries and placed them in the charger (the right way!!) and plugged the charger back in.

A little parental heart attack story - on Saturday, Jon was working on the laptop, kind of sleepy from staying up late. I ran to the store to get some eggs, leaving Jonathan at home, playing in the sink, "washing" dishes. Jon then dozed off and woke to find Jonathan washing the big kitchen knife. That's only part one.

Jonathan then headed down the stairs and Jon asked him where he was going but got no answer. As I walked home from the store, there was Jonathan, with his boots on but no coat (and short sleeved shirt) standing by our next door neighbor's fence! This was quite surprising to me and I asked him if Daddy knew he was out there. He said yes, but Jon was nowhere to be seen and I knew that even if he had told Jonathan he could go outside, he (Jonathan) definitely shouldn't have been outside the fence without an adult. Jonathan said, "I came to find you." So I talked to him about safety and needing an adult outside the fence and then went to hear Jon's side of the story, which is basically the above. So Jon had a little talk with Jonathan also. Whew!

Whew, indeed! There are definitely some stories best heard AFTER the situation has been safely resolved. One thing you know -- Jonathan was a lot safer washing the big kitchen knife because he has been using it properly for months. Just don't tell me he was standing by the pit bull fence....

No, not that far (and the dogs don't come out in winter anyway.) Just at the next door neighbors. I did forget to mention that he had only been out there about 30 seconds according to Jon's estimation. (He heard the door slam and assumed it was me coming home. Then he heard it again when it actually was me coming home.)
