It got up to 67 F outside this afternoon. We had a picnic lunch and then spent a long time outside enjoying the sunshine (kids absorbing lots of vitamin D) and playing with rocks. Jonathan cleaned and filled the hummingbird feeder. I filled the regular bird feeder. I put away shovels and cleaned up the yard a bit (rocks from the paths had gotten shoveled into the grass with the snow). Hooray for spring! I even opened up the windows to let some fresh air in. It only lasted for about an hour because the outside temperature started dropping, but it was very nice.
Our backyard is a swamp, with at least an inch, maybe two of water in many places. Amazingly, the basement is dry even with all this thawing. I cleared out the snow from my new raspberry transplants (transplanted in late summer) since it seemed like the snow in the back-back yard is not going to melt as fast because it is more sheltered.
Jonathan came inside singing a new song, which he proceeded to write down. He declined to sing it for the camera, but he did want me to type up the words.
I Can't Stop Seein' The Beauty of Nature by Jonathan David Daley
I can't stop seein' the beauty of nature.
I can't stop seein' beautiful things.

In other news:
3/8 - Faith says thank you when you give her something. It sounds like "ay-oo"
3/9 - Noah is correcting his own speech more and more. For example, he used to say "byoon" for balloon. On Tuesday he started saying "ba-byoon".
3/10 - After several attempts and much perseverance and refusal of help, Faith put on her own pants.

She put on her own pants? I am impressed!
I hope Jonathan will sing it for the camera sometime -- I'd like to know the tune.
Now that Noah is doing much better with middle consonants, I can understand most of what he says on the phone. Context helps a bit. He told me he got a ba-byoon at Ader Oh's. When I told him we don't have a Trader Joe's here, he invited me to come visit to I could go to your Ader Oh's.
She tried off and on all day, but in the afternoon she finally got it. And she was very adamant about not wanting help.
Hey for Spring! That past few days we've woken up to fresh snow and temperatures still hang around freezing during the day. Maybe we'll be doing with winter by the time M&D come to visit!
I did gently remind the boys that it probably will snow again sometime soon, but that it won't be as big or stay as long. It does still freeze in this area until May usually! But it's wonderful to have this taste of sunshine. I hope you get some warmer tastes in CH soon.
