Zoo

We went to the zoo on Wednesday with the Tomans and Venables. It was a lot of fun.

Jonathan's favorite animals were the African dwarf crocodiles. He also liked the elephants, giraffe, and fish.

He and Maya liked to run in the misting tunnel (to cool hot visitors down), Hannah was interested but not sure enough to run all the way through, Ellery didn't like it, and Daniel and Noah didn't get to try.

There was a new baby orangutan - it was mostly bald all over its body! Its mother was lying on her back, completely relaxed. It sat/leaned on her to nurse and when it was done, it just climbed right up her to lie on her belly.

We also liked the Kodiak bear, who was playing with a large rubber ring, chewing on it. Jonathan said, "I want him to throw it in the water and then go get it." He did eventually throw it, but then did not go get it.

There really is not enough time to see everything in one visit, so I'm thinking about getting a membership - it's worth it after only four visits in a year (for one adult and one child - even better if Jon comes sometimes.)

I have to comment that hearing Jonathan describe the zoo trip on the phone was amazing! Very good memory and details about what he saw.
