Sunday, February 19, 2006, Jonathan went skiing for the first time. Just after 11am, we headed east to Seven Springs, which is the closest/best mountain to Pittsburgh. We arrived at the parking lot at 12:45, then took a shuttle to the lodge. We got off at the wrong place and had to walk to the... (More)

David spoke of the evil and glory of little... (More)

I guess I am asking for it, running the gnucash source (1.8.9), but running everything else from Debian testing. I upgraded like usual, somewhere around every week, and didn't think anything of it, because aptitude/Debian always takes care of everything for me. But yesterday, Heather... (More)

Like so many other articles on this subject, I will start by saying that I looked at various documents, but none of them worked perfectly for me, so I will write up my own steps. Most of the regular readers of this blog will not care at all about SMTP authentication, TLS, SSL, port 25, 465, 587,... (More)

While it is impossible to keep up with all of the new words Jonathan can say, there are interesting stories every once in a while (how "interesting" is measured is probably different among the different readers of this blog) and so I like to share them. Also, I realized that sometimes we say he... (More)

One day for dinner I prepared a noodle dish from a toddler-friendly cookbook that was "toddler rated 10 out of 10." I also made asparagus as a side dish. Jonathan loves asparagus and helped me taste test it as I was preparing it. Then at dinner we had to tell him that he had to eat a couple... (More)

On April 27, we went to the Zoo with Alissa, Will, Nate, and Sam. I sang to Jonathan the "We're going to the zoo" song and he repeated, "zoo, zoo, zoo!" He also repeated "cheetah" but he growled at the bears on his own. The elephants were much larger in real life than he expected and he didn't... (More)

Friday evening, Jonathan was cranky, he fell asleep early, and he felt hot. I wondered if it might be an ear infection because his right ear had been squeaking when he nursed. In the middle of the night, I remembered that fever is a common reaction to the MMR vaccine, usually occuring 7-12 days... (More)

The stats: 34 lb 10 oz; 33 inches tall Dr.Anderson was finally happy that the weight started to plateau. I had not decreased nursing at all (on purpose, though it did slightly naturally - except for no nursing 30 minutes before dinner.) But I had tried to make sure he got lots of exercise.... (More)
