Since I always need to go back to my email to find out the instructions of how to set up the server, here are the settings we need at DynaVox to make Tracker work properly.We no longer need to install Oracle locally (yay!)

Simply run tracker setup (can be over the network).
You only need the Desktop Client, and both Oracle ODBC drivers.
Run tracker, and setup a new server:
Server definition wizard:
  • Name: New Server
  • DBMS Type: Tracker Oracle Wire Sys
  • Host: rnd_server
  • Port: 1521
  • SID: trk1
Hit next.
DBMS User Information:
  • User Id: tracker
  • Password: pvcstracker
Click "Verify User"
If you get an error, double check stuff, and then come find me.
Check remember passwords and hit next and finish
Choose relevant projects: 4100, Dynamo 2, etc.
Close tracker.
Edit c:\windows\pvcstrk.ini
Add the following:
[Mail]
system=None
[Workspace]
intray_notify=off
sort_intray=off
refresh_time=0
Run tracker, and have fun.

we are using a PVCS client v7.1 build 638 installed on XP.

When installed, on IE6 /IE7 the java Applet for issue Tray does not get loaded.

I have observed this happens when the system has JRE installed.

After removing the JRE , the Applet gets loaded.

Any comments/ guidance requested.

I'd first recommend upgrading, since version 7.1 must be really old, isn't it? I believe we started using version 7.52 somewhere around 5 years ago.

There were definitely good bug fixes and feature additions in the upgrade, and I refused to work on my clients' machines that hadn't gotten around to upgrading. That fixed all complaints except for some changes I had to make to the Oracle backend.
