We were intentionally not posting online to allow for some in-person notifications, but we are happy to now announce that we are expecting a baby in late May!   There are various people rooting for a girl to make the statistics and/or pattern more "fair", but we don't know for now and... (More)

Happy birthday, Noah!  Welcome to the double digits.  Ten was one of my favorite ages.  I am sorry that I can't give you my Be 10 Again! tshirt, but you are just too big!  But no matter how big you get, you'll always be my baby.  I love you! Noah is an artist:... (More)

I typed up my memorial service reflection for a presentation we did at our church recently.  I don't think it has been typed up before, so I thought I'd post it now.  (Am I allowed to be amazed at myself?) Heather's memorial reflection, March 16, 2003 Isaac Christopher Daley - a... (More)

2/2 - Noah and I walked past the food pantry on distribution day, and saw a friend of ours heading there. He asked if she was donating food and I explained that she was receiving food.  He wondered why she needed to get food from the food pantry, and we had a good discussion about the... (More)

Once again, we were blessed to have Grandma and Dad-o with us for a birth. Jeremiah was still too clingy on Mommy for us to be comfortable having him at the birth.  He did well completely away from me, but had trouble when nearby and I was unavailable.  That is exactly the situation a... (More)

Yesterday was an exhausting day, so I made sure to get us ready for bed early.  We were in bed by 9:00.  But Jeremiah kicked his covers off just about every hour and asked me to put them back on again.  By 3:30 or so, his medicine had worn off and he was wheezing and... (More)

12/26 - Daley Christmas.  Baby cousin G gets a pretty dress.  People exclaim over it. Big brother C says, "I'm not impressed." 12/28 - C, "Dad, [cousin] O says 'ellow' for 'yellow'". Ben, "That's ok, bud." C, "It's not ok with me." 12/30 - Joy counts to 30. 1/5 - Jeremiah gets... (More)

I'm very much behind on the blog.  But I have kept the pocket notes safely typed up in my email.  So here goes. In June, the kids and I made a trip to Florida to visit my parents, and my sister and her kids visited, too. 6/14 - Joy, "Mommy! I saw a dinosaur!"  (It was a... (More)

Got a bunch of spam comments and then when I was looking at posts, the boys pointed out that my last post was a month ago and I said "trip to DC goes in a separate post"...  So here we go. When we went into downtown to see the sights, we split up into smaller groups.  Jonathan,... (More)

2/15 - JPD walked up to me and hugged my knees.  He now does this often. 2/19 - JDD quotes from The Incredibles, with an Indian flair: "This is your automated captain speaking. Would you like more samosas?" 2/24 - JDD "What's the difference between lo mein and chow mein, and why isn't... (More)

I think I have found a key to living selflessly.  When there's an emergency, it's easy to serve.  I see the great need, and I know it's temporary.  It's hard to keep serving in the ordinary, mundane, because it feels like it will never end and the needs don't always seem so great.... (More)

9/13 - A Friday. Jonathan had been asking me if he could read Harry Potter for a while.  I told him I needed to talk to Daddy about whether we thought he was ready, but I kept forgetting.  The strategy that worked was asking me in Daddy's presence so I didn't have time to forget. ... (More)
