Jon took us on a small family vacation this weekend to a bed and breakfast on a farm .It was fun, despite cold precipitation and wind for most of the weekend. After breakfast is farm chore time - pumping water, feeding goats, sheep, guinea hens, chickens, and gathering eggs. Farmer Dale tells... (More)

Noah's height chart is doing the same straight-line projection that Jonathan's weight chart did. 28" tall, 18lb 11oz. I never pay much attention to the head circumference number, but that chart was also straight-line. The last two times, the nurse has double-checked that measurement, but... (More)

Noah was having a hard time this early morning and he reached for my fingers to chew on them. Then I felt it! Tooth ridges on the bottom right! He's been drooling and chewing a lot, but I really didn't think anything of it, because Jonathan chomped on stuff for a couple months before the... (More)

Reading Mom's post about the TV/autism study reminded me of my own recent negative TV experience. On Friday at care group, Jonathan inadvertantly went to the babysitting before we wanted him to, and they ended up seeing several kids' shows on video. Much of his conversation all weekend... (More)

For the first time, on Wednesday before we left for Erica's wedding, Jonathan said, "You're the best Mommy in the world." Now he frequently says similar heartwarming things. He was the ring bearer at Auntie E's wedding, and he did a superb job. He likes to wear his "wedding clothes" and say... (More)

Serina wrote a post on raw milk that I started to comment on, when I decided it deserved a whole post on my own blog. I thought the person quoted in the raw milk article made a good point about lettuce, etc. making people sick. Think of the recent spinach/e.coli thing. Are states now... (More)

Jonathan has been using scissors for a long time, but I just wanted to write down how cute he is when he cuts things. His mouth opens and closes exactly with each motion of the scissors. Soot-su is the main character in his imaginary world, and now she has been joined by Peddy-Deddy, Ron-ron,... (More)

This post has been in my head since shortly after Noah was born, but taking the time to write it has not been on my priority list until now. Before I begin, I would like to say that my purpose in writing is simply an explanation of what we're doing and why I think it's great, and an... (More)

Last weekend, Heather was sick with mastitis, which meant she just wanted to lie in bed all day with flu-like symptoms. It actually started on Friday morning, and she did get progressively better throughout the day, but still decided to stay home from care group that night. I was planning on... (More)

A while ago, sometime before our vacation, we were out with a friend. It had been a rather long trip - getting some Italian ice, playing at a playground, walking. When we got back into the car, I saw Jonathan do his I-need-to-go-to-the-bathroom shiver. I (probably unwisely) tried to ignore it... (More)

Ah, it has been nearly a month since I posted anything. So here's a quick rundown. The boys and I went on vacation without Daddy. We drove to Philly, taking 7 hours, stopping every hour, once on the side of the road, once at a rest stop and three times at exits. If ever you need to stop on... (More)

I tried to re-activate our prepaid phone, but Cingular no longer supports TDMA phones, which is an older standard, but I hadn't realized that GSM had taken over that much. Our cell phone that we use regularly is also TDMA, but the sales guy said that it should last a while, as long as we don't... (More)

And another trip for this week, out to the Kuhns.(need to update these directions after the trip. This one is more of an experiment, trying to stay off of Allegheny River Blvd, Freeport Road and 28 at rush hour) Estimated distance: 15 miles. Start at St. Mary's Cemetary at the entrance on... (More)

I am planning on a couple bike trips in the next couple days, and figured I would write them down, one, in case I ever want to do them again, I will be able to find the route easier, and two, perhaps others will follow in my tire tracks.Based on John Ockerbloom's directions, though I want... (More)

Noah had an appointment at six weeks, kind of both his one month and two month appointments, because of scheduling. He is 13 lb, 13 oz, 23.5 in. Not as fast to gain as Jonathan, but still good and healthy. My suspicion is that he won't be as fat as Jonathan was since Jonathan is now drinking... (More)
