We are missing a movie, and so went looking around the house for it (the boys had all the movies out the other day, lining them up to look at all of the covers (as well as taking all the Mancala marbles and throwing them around the house)) - see what happens when Mommy leaves for the morning??  In my defense, I hadn't realized they were Mancala pieces, I wouldn't have let them do it if I knew they were part of a set.

In the process of looking for things, we found a number of legos that had been missing a while, a couple things that had been missing for years, a cookie (not sure how old that is), and some various cancelled checks and a driver's license from the previous owner of this couch.

The license expired 1991.  Virginia Everard (who strangely enough, can be found in a couple references on the web, one of which being her mortgage, which will finish in 2027, complete with the total amount left, interest rate and monthly payment that she owed (when some bank bought or otherwise acquired her loan).  Kind of odd that is published information.

But did you find the movie?

you mean to say that all that stuff managed to stay in the couch even during the move?? And how do canceled checks end up in the couch? I always tear our voided checks up into tiny pieces before throwing it away. Were they your checks or someone elses? I just can't imagine finding such odd things in my couch! Except for the cookie....i'm sure we have one of those in ours too :)

When we bought our 1988 Caravan in 1992, Blue Book had cleaned the car very well. At one point the kids lost something in the seat - and so I really dug into it - and found a credit card gas receipt from December 1987 in the name of one Beverly Driver. Why do I remember this some 17 years later? First, it showed that the '88 models were sold in '87 - which is just the way things are. However the real reason is that I knew a person named Beverly Driver in Rochester. Now, how many Beverly Drivers can there be? Well - Google returns five different Beverly Drivers on just the first page of results -- so in a country of 300 million an unusual name isn't so unusual.

No, we didn't find the movie.

And yes, they survived the move (our stuff) and at least two moves (the other person's checks).

I was happy he found a puzzle piece that had survived the move. It was a wooden puzzle of flying things that the boys really enjoy. I hadn't had the heart to throw it away yet, and I'm glad I didn't.

At least we didn't find a cat.

Wow I can't believe you found all that information about her. And yes good thing no cat! Did you go back and check again after reading that story? ;)

I haven't heard anything, and if it were dead, I'd probably be able to smell it, but I don't think I'll check any closer.

We do have a live something behind our oven, probably another mouse.
