Although he still says "hold you" when he means "hold me," Jonathan is starting to figure out the me-you-mine-yours thing. He will now say "mine socks" or "mine shoes." (More)

Jonathan is great at couplets now, for example, "yellow button" "dry diaper" "one hand." He is also increasing his use of complete sentences. One thing he said yesterday was "Yes please, Daddy" which is the first time ever that he has said all three in a row like that for a request.

In a sales flyer I got recently, there was a line at the bottom that said, "Not responsible fro typos."

I happened to check my logs this evening and discovered that a spammer had tried to send one of my clients a few emails over the weekend. Only 100,000 or so. He was being blocked via an RBL, but that still takes up resources, so I manually blocked his IP address, as well as ran a ping -f -s 65507 on him for a while, and reported him to his ISP. The mail stopped about 5 minutes later, so I don't know what made the difference, it doesn't seem like his ISP could have reacted that fast, particularly on a Saturday evening.

Jonathan was playing with Heather's hair band, and was calling it a bandand, his word for rubber band, (close to his word for baid-aid: bandane) (More)

This was quite the weekend of the sailboat. Saturday's adventures pale in comparison to Sunday's, but I want to write them down anyway. (More)

Jonathan now identifies two of his butterfly bits by name: "morpho" for brown morpho and "lady" for painted lady. By the way, I always type his words the way he means them, but often they are not exactly like that. For example, these two words actually sound like "my-foh" and "yay-dee." He has been working on his l's though, because sometimes he says a very good "lap." (More)

On Monday after dinner, Jon said, "How about if we go sailing?" So we packed up and headed down to the boat ramp near his work - on the Monongehela almost under the Birmingham bridge. (More)

On Tuesday, Jonathan discovered how to stand on tiptoes, and he thought it was great fun and asked me to "Watch!" him and share in his joy. (More)

Today at lunch, Jonathan opened the refrigerator door, took out the pitcher of iced tea (about 2-3 cups left), brought it to the table, climbed up on his chair, and began pouring the tea into his cup. (More)

On weekends, Jonathan often helps Daddy make breakfast while Mommy gets a little bit of nice time to herself with God. This Sunday morning, Jonathan successfully used the spatula to lift the pancakes off the griddle and onto the plate! (More)

My friend gave me an update on our mutual friend whose baby is due next week. The doctors want to induce now, a week early, "because the baby has lost weight." How do they know this? By ultrasound. Which can be wrong by a pound or more in either direction. (More)

On Monday, Jonathan said what sounded like "van-fan" so I tried to figure out what he meant. He pointed to the shelf and said it again, maybe differently. I looked up, and there were the bits - works of Rembrandt! I said, "Rembrandt?" And he said, "yes, Rembrandt!" (or a close approximation.) It had been a while since he saw them so I was quite impressed that he remembered. After we saw the bits, he asked for the word cards behind them by saying, very clearly, "words." (More)
