Last weekend, Heather was sick with mastitis, which meant she just wanted to lie in bed all day with flu-like symptoms. It actually started on Friday morning, and she did get progressively better throughout the day, but still decided to stay home from care group that night. I was planning on... (More)

I am planning on a couple bike trips in the next couple days, and figured I would write them down, one, in case I ever want to do them again, I will be able to find the route easier, and two, perhaps others will follow in my tire tracks.Based on John Ockerbloom's directions, though I want... (More)

It seems as if Noah is giving us real smiles now. He also is moving his hands and arms more purposefully. Noah really dislikes wet diapers. He seems like the perfect baby to start trying infant potty training with - now I just need to jump in and do it! (You can search for "elimination... (More)

Noah is a great sleeper and a great nurser. He will sleep 4-5 hours straight at the beginning of the night, and 2-3 hour segments during the day. This actually gives me time to play with Jonathan and get work done! He's also efficient at nursung and does not stay on as long as Jonathan did (or... (More)

Jonathan seems to think that a baseball glove is for throwing the ball as well as catching it. I told him that if he wanted to throw a ball with a tool, he should get a lacrosse stick, it would work better than a glove. He then asked why a "cross like we have upstairs" (I think he was referring... (More)

It started out beautifully. When Jonathan needed a morning diaper change, I put Noah in the carseat which was in the basement family room. He started fussing while I was still rinsing the diaper, so Jonathan went out and started singing quietly to him! When I got there, Jonathan was gently... (More)

Noah's a great sleeper, we think because I already had some milk. We had our first tandem nursing session at home Thursday morning and it is sweet to see the two nursing brothers looking at each other across me. Last night was a hard one, though. He had a lot of gas and would not sleep long... (More)

Wednesday, June 28. 2:30am. My water broke! That was different. I woke Jon up with the news and he called the midwife while I went up to go to the bathroom and to wake up my parents. The midwife said it could be a long time before labor gets going after water breaking, but that we could... (More)

At church on May 7, Jonathan washed his hands in the bathroom completely independently for the first time - turning on the water, reaching the sink, reaching the soap, turning off the water, drying his hands. I offered to lift him up as usual, but he said, "I can do it!" And he did! The... (More)

This is the hardest one I have ever worked on. [ Update 10/24/2006: thanks to you all reading this post and posting other links, I have since found more interesting ones -- look through the comments - the one posted on October 9th appears to be pretty hard, though maybe I just made a mistake on... I was working on the computer this morning, so Heather and Jonathan made it downstairs before I did. Jonathan asked Heather if he could make breakfast (eggs, since it is Saturday), and Heather said that he wasn't ready to do it by himself, and do it with Daddy. When I got downstairs, he asked me,... Jonathan has gone from complete non-understanding to maybe understanding but not caring, to really being excited about the baby. He likes to pat my belly and sing to the baby. "Can you hear me, baby?" "Do you like this [patting/pressing], baby?" "I love you, baby." We've started talking... (More)

I got a notification from a credit bureau today saying that a new account had been opened by: Verizon Pen, PO BOX 165018, COLUMBUS, OH 43216. Since I haven't changed phone service since last year, it seemed odd that there would be a new account from Verizon. My mortgage company had their backup... (More)

Jonathan's favorite bits recently are Fluorine, Estonia, Great Gray Owl. I'm pretty sure he does know the Estonian flag, but he has now started this game where he goes through them and calls them all "Estonia." I think he just likes to say the word! But yesterday, he was doing that,... (More)

He's thinning out and looking older and doing and saying all sorts of extraordinary things. Here's the catch-up. 1/23 - Told a clerk at the grocery store that his favorite movie is my prenatal excercise video! 1/25 - He found a nametag lanyard and uses it as his stethoscope, to measure the...
