I figured I'd be getting some birthday money from someone, so I went ahead and spent it last week, by buying a handful of CDs from Sovereign Grace, which happens to be having a fairly big sale. It will go for the rest of February, so you should probably check it out. It seems to be becoming an annual event, so I'll need to remember that, though I don't know if I have bought anything from them recently.
Even if you don't have money to spend, they have some samples and free tracks for download if you are willing to click around on their site.
Jonathan was excited to buy me a birthday present with his own money. He went out shopping today to get it. He thought that maybe it should say "To Jonathan and Daddy", since he was going to like it a lot, but he thought I would like it some as well. He bought me a Lego helicopter.

Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoy the helicopter. I'm curious to know how Jonathan earns all his personal cash. He's either been saving for a while or earns quite a bit. Or was it left over from birthday money?
Sounds like the reverse of all the dads who buy their infants electric train sets. :)
Jonathan got a significant amount of birthday and Christmas money this year. Since he actually wants to spend it now, we are implementing a saving/giving/spending scheme for him. As part of that he is going to be (partially) sponsoring a Compassion child and writing to him. Jonathan is excited about this. The boy he picked will be five in March, so they are pretty much the same age.
In fact, when I was looking at the balances of our bank accounts at Insight Financial, Jonathan had the highest balance... That doesn't count our other banks, but it was humorous to see.
Also, it turns out it wasn't a helicopter - but a propeller drive airplane. We built it this morning, and we enjoyed the time together.
Isn't that the dream of all dads, to have a son that buys them a Lego set? Sure beats a pair of socks!
