Just for the record, Pittsburgh got snow flurries yesterday. Very fun to watch. A few actually stuck on the car until the sun came out.

Based on an excruciating headache Wednesday afternoon, October 12, that did not go away, Jon and I headed to West Penn Hospital Emergency Room at 10:30pm. A friend came to the house to watch Jonathan while he slept. Here is an aside - it was so good for Jonathan that he did not come, he would have been tired and cranky and I would have not had any resources left to support Jon. (More)

Saturday we went shopping for Thanksgiving dinner and apple picking. Jonathan slept through the whole apple picking trip, even though his car seat was placed in a wagon that got a very bumpy ride through the orchard. We picked a half-bushel for ourselves. (More)

Thursday morning, we drove up to Jon's Aunt Janet's place in Hamilton, Ontario. We stopped at "our" Wal-Mart at the two hour mark for a bathroom break and to buy some snacks. (I think we've stopped there every time we go that way - it must just be at a good break point.) (More)

The line at security at the Orlando International Airport was short and quick. There was only one man in front of us to go through the x-ray machines. He had a lot of stuff (now that I think about it, way too much for legal carry-on) and he had to take his laptop out of its bag, etc. (More)

Mom found this house while canoeing in the Merrimack River, and thinks it is just perfect for us. It does look great! There is a lot of land (13 acres) and a lovely place for the Black Rabbit to launch from.
We have gotten used to Pittsburgh housing prices, so anything is a shock, but this house is fairly expensive in my mind, though probably quite reasonable.
It needs a lot of work, and of course, I would need to find a job, and see how the community is, etc.
Update: the address is 250 West Road, Canterbury, NH. It is 50 or so minutes from my parents.

We recently switched our automobile insurance to State Farm, because Amica doubled their rates on our homeowners policy, a bait-and-switch sort of thing - they told me the estimated rate, and I agreed, spent a month trying to get the inspector to come look at the house. (More)

There have been a number of things we wanted to work better on the Flying Junior, but mostly because it is hard to find a sailboat store in Pittsburgh, we hadn't gotten around to it. (More)

Sunday after church Jon suggested we go sailing again since we did not make it the day before. (More)

This was quite the weekend of the sailboat. Saturday's adventures pale in comparison to Sunday's, but I want to write them down anyway. (More)

On Monday after dinner, Jon said, "How about if we go sailing?" So we packed up and headed down to the boat ramp near his work - on the Monongehela almost under the Birmingham bridge. (More)

My friend gave me an update on our mutual friend whose baby is due next week. The doctors want to induce now, a week early, "because the baby has lost weight." How do they know this? By ultrasound. Which can be wrong by a pound or more in either direction. (More)

I have discovered a fun and convenient way to water our plants. Our air conditioner drips about a gallon of water a day if we run it all afternoon. If I put our watering can under the drip, it fills it in addition to keeping water off the porch carpet. Then the next day, I have a full watering can ready and waiting to water the plants!

It's taken a long time and persistence, but I have now succeeded! Today I bought several gallons of oil, milk, and orange juice, and I did not bring a single bag home! (More)
