Daley Ponderings | Jonathan

States

Jonathan and I have finished the state outlines and are now learning the placement of the states within the US map. The bits comprise an outline map with the state in question filled in with red. Some of the New England states are hard to see. I wondered if Jonathan would follow, but now I know he does! I can see his eyes move to the right place as each bit is shown.

Van Gogh's Ear

As indicated previously, one of Jonathan's bit cards is Van Gogh's painting "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear." The last two times I've showed it to him, he has pointed to his ear (and maybe even said something like "ear.')

Hot and Cold

Jonathan love to say "hot" and he often says hot when he means cold - ie snow, ice cubes. (More)

Bits

Jonathan has been very happy with his bits recently, asking for them a lot. He is never bored with the picture bits, but I have had to scale down on the math and reading cards. However, the other day I discovered a way to show the math dots that keeps him riveted. I say the number several times, turning the card and showing a new angle for every repetition. He likes that much better and thinks it's pretty fun. He will look at six in a row when I do it that way. (More)

Sick

I am not usually awake at 5:30 in the morning, but Jonathan's sickness has caused us to go through three diapers, three tshirts and one set of bedsheets all in the span between 3 and 4:30 am. Now he won't go back to sleep, so here I am.

Monday is Vacuum Day

Jonathan has been asking to vacuum the house all week, but I told him we had to wait until Monday. Today he was so excited when I was vacuuming that he was bouncing and grinning and saying, "vacuum" over and over again. (More)

I have been locking the file cabinet because Jonathan not only likes to pull the drawers (which is fine) but he also likes to pull out the papers in the drawers (not fine!) (More)

How'd We Get To Fifteen So Fast??

This morning, I found Jonathan's lower left canine poking through. That's five teeth in a span of only a couple of days! He hasn't been acting unusual - the only thing I can think of is being more cuddly recently.
