While clearing the breakfast dishes this morning, I asked Jonathan if he wanted more juice. "Yes, please or no, thank you," I prompted. He replied, "No. [pause] No, thank you." Very clearly!

Jonathan has an Italian board book that Aunt Janet brought him from Italy, which I stumble through as best I can. After I read a book, he will usually turn through the pages again himself. This time, he babbled in a more singsong voice, unlike his usual talking. I really think he was trying out the Italian! (More)

Jonathan was a thumbsucker since before he was born. We did nothing to discourage it, except that I would often offer to nurse. (More)

Grammy likes to sing "If You're Happy and You Know it" and one of her verses is "duh" with the hand motion of smacking your forehead. She sang it on the bus to Jonathan on our way to the museum. (More)

Grammy decided that it would be fun to go to the Children's Museum, and boy was she right! This place is so so so so fun. (More)

I can now definitively say that Jonathan is running. At the Jubilee conference Sunday morning, there were long hallways to explore and he ran down them. It's a very cute toddler run, but it's definitely a run. And he swings his arms in a nice cross-pattern.

Grammy arrived late last night so Jonathan greeted her this morning. He definitely remembered her, but still needed a little bit of warm up time. However, after playing with puzzles, books, and blocks, I'd say he's quite happy. She went upstairs to her room and Jonathan said, "Daddy?" (which I guess is for all of us now!) and then he followed her all the way up to her room - two flights of stairs and a hallway in between.

Jonathan has another cold and his nose is running and he is sad. Please pray for health and happiness. When we read the story about Miss Spider's Tea Party (she invites the bugs but they all run away so she is sad - then when she is kind to a stray moth, all the other bugs join her party) Jonathan kept turning back to the page where the spider is crying and he would make his sad/sympathetic face. We did manage to make it outside for some sunshine and fresh air.

In addition to barking like a dog, Jonathan can also meow like a cat and whoo-whoo like an owl. He is also working on trumpeting like an elephant.

I have not been too interested in paintings or going to art museums (except I did always like to see the Tiffany glass work.) I will admit that I had my doubts about whether Jonathan would like the Van Gogh bits, simply because I had no appreciation for them myself. (More)

Jonathan and I have finished the state outlines and are now learning the placement of the states within the US map. The bits comprise an outline map with the state in question filled in with red. Some of the New England states are hard to see. I wondered if Jonathan would follow, but now I know he does! I can see his eyes move to the right place as each bit is shown.

As indicated previously, one of Jonathan's bit cards is Van Gogh's painting "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear." The last two times I've showed it to him, he has pointed to his ear (and maybe even said something like "ear.')
