Serina wrote a post on raw milk that I started to comment on, when I decided it deserved a whole post on my own blog. (More)

For a number of years, I have been on the Worship Quote of the Week e-mailing list, and have found a lot of the quotes to be edifying and helpful. (More)

Jonathan has been using scissors for a long time, but I just wanted to write down how cute he is when he cuts things. His mouth opens and closes exactly with each motion of the scissors. (More)

Twice last week, Noah slept eight hours straight at night. This is amazing to me, since I am not actively trying to get him to sleep through the night, and Jonathan didn't do that until he was two years old or so. This does Mommy much good. (:

I just noticed that Jonathan has 203 posts, Isaac has 60, and Noah only has 14, so I will take this opportunity to write about our left-behind third child.
He seems to like trying to catch my eye while I am working at my laptop, and we are sitting on the couch together. I will notice that he is looking at me, and when I refocus past my laptop screen on his eyes, he brightens and grins as big as he can. (More)

This post has been in my head since shortly after Noah was born, but taking the time to write it has not been on my priority list until now. Before I begin, I would like to say that my purpose in writing is simply an explanation of what we're doing and why I think it's great, and an encouragement for others who might like to do similarly. It is NOT meant to be a condemnation of those who have different childrearing philosophies. All parents need to do what they think is best for their children, whether that is the same as what we do or not. (More)

Noah likes to sit in his bouncy seat while I take showers. It has some hanging toys on it which he has now started grabbing for. This morning he succeeded in getting a good enough hold on one to try to bring it to his mouth. Unfortunately, it was not long enough to reach, but he tried several times.

Last weekend, Heather was sick with mastitis, which meant she just wanted to lie in bed all day with flu-like symptoms. It actually started on Friday morning, and she did get progressively better throughout the day, but still decided to stay home from care group that night.
I was planning on coming home around 2:00 or so to take care of her a bit, and then head off to care group after I ate some dinner. We had loaned our car to Janet, and so I was going to take the T. I ended up not getting home until 5:20 or so, and I was supposed to leave at 5:35 to get to care group on time. (More)

I hadn't ever gotten a call from a domain scammer before, but today I got my first one. He wanted a fax number to send some sort of notification to. Since I know my domain isn't going to expire for a year, and I was pretty sure that neither my registrar nor my DNS host had asked these guys to call me, I quizzed him some, but he wasn't really able to answer any questions.

Just to be sure, I called my registrar, and they confirmed that these guys are probably some sort of scammer. After searching further on the Internet, I see that lots of people have had trouble with them.
It appears to be a company in Panama, so presumably there isn't anything I can do to stop them, other than warn people here.

As we were walking along yesterday, Jon was one-two-three-swinging with Jonathan. I was holding Noah facing out, and he just laughed and giggled watching his big brother. It was so fun!

A while ago, sometime before our vacation, we were out with a friend. It had been a rather long trip - getting some Italian ice, playing at a playground, walking. When we got back into the car, I saw Jonathan do his I-need-to-go-to-the-bathroom shiver. I (probably unwisely) tried to ignore it or pretend maybe he was cold. But then I heard him softly encouraging himself, "You can go pee when you get home." I thought it was so sweet that he thought of that, but I knew the drive would be too long, so I notified Daddy and they took care of it. (More)

Ah, it has been nearly a month since I posted anything. So here's a quick rundown. The boys and I went on vacation without Daddy. We drove to Philly, taking 7 hours, stopping every hour, once on the side of the road, once at a rest stop and three times at exits. If ever you need to stop on the turnpike, try really hard to make it a rest stop. You have never seen such long exit ramps as when you have a toddler in the car who needs to go to the bathroom. (More)

I tried to re-activate our prepaid phone, but Cingular no longer supports TDMA phones, which is an older standard, but I hadn't realized that GSM had taken over that much. Our cell phone that we use regularly is also TDMA, but the sales guy said that it should last a while, as long as we don't cancel the plan.

It costs $30 for a new phone, and $15 for the minutes, and he has to ship it, the local offices only have $80 phones, so it isn't worth anything for this weekend's bike trips.

We get a phone call every day between 8:55 and 9:00AM. They are always hangups, but today, I finally answered quick enough to actually get a person. It was the American Center for Law and Justice, and they refused to remove my phone number from their list.

I emailed jsekulow@aclj.org directly, I don't suppose he actually reads his own mail, but maybe he will do something about it.

Their member services say I am not on their lists, so their telemarketers must be calling, as if it makes any difference to me whether they are paying a person in the same building as them to call me, or if they hired an outside firm to call me.

I need to look up the number to the FCC - they fined MCI $400 (or maybe more - I got a check for $400) for bothering me in college.
