I lost my planner just before Christmas (as far as I can deduce, in a shopping cart in the parking lot of Jo-Ann's on McKnight Rd - anybody seen it?  Please return it, you can keep the gift cards, I just want the information!)  It had several notes in it about cute things the boys did or said, and I'm sure many are lost, but I do remember a few.  Plus I did write down other things that have happened since. (More)

Well, so far he hasn't forgotten things from before he was three.  Just out of the blue the other day, Jonathan was talking about the Maggie P and said, "That burning up fire toilet is pretty cool." (More)

It has been a long time since the last time Jonathan and I went out on a trip together, and Heather suggested that I take the kids to give her some time to clean and other things by herself.

First, we glued all of the dining room chairs, since they have been falling apart more than usual lately.  Then, Jonathan and I changed the oil in the car and topped off the various fluids.

Jonathan woke up late on his birthday morning and discovered a bouquet of Happy Birthday balloons tied to the foot of his bed. He had a good long drink of mommy milk and then discovered his birthday crown on the sewing table which he put on after dressing in his "wedding clothes." (More)

Jonathan borrowed a playdough pliers from the Kuhns and discovered that it makes nice little barrels.  Since his dough is now all colors mixed up, it is brown.  Lisa thought they looked like Tootsie Rolls.  A few days later when he was telling another friend about the things he borrowed, he said, "You know, the thing that makes sushi rolls."  That's Aunt Janet's nephew to know what sushi rolls are and not Tootsie Rolls (More)

Jonathan was rolling out fondant and playing with cookie cutters and talking to himself about them when I heard him say, "cross" correctly!  He also said, "green" correctly so I asked him to say "Grammy" and he did!  They do sound slightly like "caross" or "Gerammy" but they're getting better and better. (More)

Reading Mom's post about the TV/autism study reminded me of my own recent negative TV experience. (More)

Jonathan just put on his own pajamas all by himself! This is the first time he has put on the shirt part before. He can now put on and take off socks, shoes, underwear, pants and shirt. That's everything!

Since he was 6 months old, Jonathan has gotten a haircut about every three months. We just take the largest guard on the electric razor and buzz it the same length all the way around. His previous haircut was just after Noah was born, so it was time. Plus, Auntie E's wedding is next week! But this time, Jonathan had an opinion. "I like it long! I don't want a haircut." So Jon just trimmed the sides and back but left everything else as it was. It looks good and makes him look older, I think.

Jonathan has been using scissors for a long time, but I just wanted to write down how cute he is when he cuts things. His mouth opens and closes exactly with each motion of the scissors. (More)

This post has been in my head since shortly after Noah was born, but taking the time to write it has not been on my priority list until now. Before I begin, I would like to say that my purpose in writing is simply an explanation of what we're doing and why I think it's great, and an encouragement for others who might like to do similarly. It is NOT meant to be a condemnation of those who have different childrearing philosophies. All parents need to do what they think is best for their children, whether that is the same as what we do or not. (More)
